Nissan to enter Canada's commercial vehicle market

Nissan Canada yesterday announced its intentions to enter the Commercial Vehicle (CV) market through a significant investment in the North America. The Japanese-based automaker will deal in commercial vehicles globally, though they've announced that they will introduce three machines to the Canadian market in three years, launching the first model in 2010.

Nissan has partnered with Cummins Inc. for engines and ZF Friedrichshafen AG for transmissions- tapping the knowledge of two world experts in their respective fields.
"Globally, the CV business is a substantial part of Nissan's sales and profitability, and this vast experience and knowledge will be leveraged within the Canadian market," says Jeff Parent, Vice President of sales and marketing, NCI. "Our entry into commercial vehicles is a testament to Nissan's vision for its Canadian operations and its commitment to addressing the needs of commercial customers in Canada."
Currently, Nissan Commercial Vehicles are sold in over 70 percent of the worlds markets, including Europe and Mexico. Canton, Mississippi will ultimately house a manufacturing centre for the range of machinery destined for North American use.
